I prefer to think of myself as a counsellor, who is a person to listen, support and be a non judgmental, safe place to explore inner thoughts, life experiences and distresses. Despite my professional training, I also believe each person already posesses the answers and know how they need for their life situations, I am here to gently guide and support each person to connecting to that personal knowledge they possess.

“Just be real” is a phrase that I relate to in my therapeutic and personal interactions. Discussing difficult life topics is hard enough without feeling like you’re not truly being heard. I knew I wanted to be in a helping role since I was in high school in a small town in the East Kootenays of B.C. I achieved my Bachelor of Social Work Degree and proceeded to work in various employments with children, youth and adults who experienced disabilities, trauma, violence, big life changes and much more. In 2015 I returned to school, as I wanted to be able to help others on a deeper level. I achieved my Masters in Social Work Degree specialization in Clinical Counselling, and worked in the Elk Valley with children, youth and their families who experienced moderate to severe mental health diagnosis; as well as, those wanting to learn coping skills and additional tools for mental health struggles they were already addressing. Being from the area I practice in gives me a unique understanding of the dynamics and characteristics of the community needs, functions and requirements: such as the flexibility to accommodate shift work. I also take very seriously the need for confidentiality, not only in session with my clients, but in the community and public settings where our paths may cross. I enjoy spending time with my two teenage children, being outdoors, reading, crafting and having a really good cup of coffee. I am always interested in trying and learning new things. I am looking forward to working with new clients and being a part of their counselling journey.
